The Avalanche X is the most premium heated glove that Volt produces. The Avalanche has extra heat, extra heat coverage, and extra insulation. With an extra 20% more heat coverage than regular Volt Heat gloves, the heat radiates around each finger and extends over the fingertips, heating both sides of the hand. Even if you run out of power, you can still enjoy warm hands with the Avalanche X Gloves with the high heat retention insulation. The Volt Zero Layer heat system eliminates bulk while providing more efficient heat transfer.
The cinched gauntlet gives you the confidence to tackle the deepest powder without worrying about getting snow under your cuff. A ski leash lets take your gloves off but keep them with you around your wrist. Premium rich leather and a pre-curved design help maintain dexterity and fit like a dream. Each product includes heating elements made of tiny conductive fibers engineered to provide optimal heat. Our system also generates infrared rays that emits upward with help of a thermal reflective barrier. When these rays strike the surface of another object like the fabric and the body, the rays are absorbed and then heat is produced. This heat spreads throughout the mass by conduction.</p><p><b>Zero Layer Technology:</b> Our patent pending Zero Layer design uses a special tape sealing process, bonding the heating system directly to the shell fabric. This allows for better heat transfer and eliminates bulky extra layers.</p><p><b>How Volt Heat Rechargeable Batteries Work:</b></p><ul><li>Remove battery(ies) and charger from packaging.</li><li>Plug the charger into a properly rated AC electrical outlet.</li><li>Connect the batteries to the output plugs from the charger to commence charging.</li><li>The LED light(s) on the charger will show "red" when charging.</li><li>Batteries will be fully charged when the LED indicator on the charger turns green. Fully discharged batteries will take 5 hours to charge completely.</li><li>Disconnect batteries from charger output plugs.</li><li>Locate the output plug from the pocket on the product and connect to battery.</li><li>Press the "power" button to activate and select desired power level.</li><li>When finished, press the power button to turn off, unplug the batteries and recharge for next use.</li></ul>

I skied four days in Colorado with temperatures between 10 and 20*. I ran the batteries almost exclusively on the lowest setting but occasionally (one or two times per day) turned them up to medium for a few minutes to warm my fingertips. The lowest setting was “adequate” but did not keep my fingers toasty warm whereas the medium setting did. At the end of the day (about 5 hours of skiing) there was one light remaining on the battery indicator - so nearly dead. Overall a good glove. Size wise they run on the small size. By the chart I was barely in the XL range but the gloves fit is snug and I’m glad I didn’t get the L.

I have used them twice since getting them for Christmas. They are an improvement over the older 7v Volt gloves I have been using for several years. They keep my fingers warmer and the handy three settings button on the cuff is much easier to use than the old battery button.
