How Portacool Cooling Works

Evaporative cooling, sometimes called swamp cooling, works by pulling hot air through a water-soaked pad; the water evaporates, and the air that comes out the other side is markedly cooler. It's dramatically cheaper to run than refrigerated air conditioning and needs no sealed room, which is exactly why Portacool units dominate garages, warehouses, loading docks, and workshops. The one rule: they work best in dry heat and in spaces with some airflow, not sealed, humid rooms.
