I got these socks because they were meant to keep in the heat better. After a 3 hour trip in high 40-low 50 degree weather my toes were still a little chilled. I wore the Heatwave socks as a base layer and wore wool socks on top of those in a regular un-insulated leather boot. The Heatwave socks fit very snugly and go over the calf, which I like. I ordered the large and I wear an 8 1/2 shoe. While wearing the socks made my feet more comfortable than not wearing them, I was really expecting a lot warmer result for the price.
