*Smart Pre-Heat: Features a battery-saving ""Smart Pre-Heat"" mode... the pre-heat mode happens when initially turning the controller on. The LED is red, but will slowly flash red. The smart pre-heat occurs for the first five minutes and then automatically kicks to medium to save battery. You can bypass this level by simply pressing the button again.

I'm a mounted deputy. I've always had cold hands during cold weather details. These gloves are heavy enough to use around horses but light enough to have good finger dexterity. Using reins is always difficult with gloves on. If you grab something already cold you can feel the temp drop in your palm. But with three heat settings they get plenty warm even on the coldest days. Do yourself a favor and grab an extra set of batteries
