What's the difference between Hotronic heat socks and heated insole sets?
Both run off the same XLP battery packs — the difference is where the heat lives. Heat socks build the heating element into the sock itself, so the warmth moves with your foot and works across different footwear. Insole sets put the element under your foot in a molded insole that stays in the boot. Skiers with one dedicated pair of boots often prefer insoles; if you rotate between boots, socks travel with you.
Which Hotronic battery pack do I need?
Hotronic's sock systems and insole systems use different battery packs, and within each line there are standard and Bluetooth-controlled versions. The safest approach is to buy a complete set — every set we carry pairs the correct pack with its socks or insoles. If you're replacing a battery on gear you already own, match the pack named on your set's product page before ordering.
Do Hotronic boot warmers only work in ski boots?
Ski boots are what the system was built around, and it's where Hotronic's reputation comes from — but the batteries mount with brackets and straps, and the insoles and socks work in any boot with room for them, including snowboard boots and winter work boots. If your boots run tight, the thin-profile options fit where a full insole won't.
Are the batteries rechargeable, and can I buy spare parts?
Yes — every XLP pack recharges, and we stock the rechargers, USB charging cables, extension cords, replacement heat elements, mounting brackets, and straps separately. That's one of the practical reasons to buy into the Hotronic system: when a strap or element wears out years later, you replace the part, not the system.
Are boot warmers worth it over disposable toe warmers?
Disposables work for an occasional cold day, but they're single-use, the heat fades mid-day, and a season of them costs more than you'd think. A rechargeable system delivers adjustable heat every day you use it for years. If cold feet are a once-a-winter problem, buy the packets; if they're every-time-you're-outside, the system pays for itself.
