How do HotHands warmers work?
They're air-activated. Each pouch contains natural ingredients — iron powder, salt, activated charcoal — that generate heat through oxidation when exposed to air. Open the wrapper, shake the packet a few times, and it warms on its own within minutes. No batteries, no charging, no flame. Once the reaction finishes, the warmer is spent and goes in the regular trash. Keep unopened packets sealed: the reaction starts as soon as air reaches the contents, so an opened warmer can't be saved for later.
How long do HotHands stay warm?
It depends on the product, and the rated duration is right in each product's name: standard hand warmers are rated up to 10 hours, the extra-large Super hand and body warmers up to 18, adhesive body warmers up to 12, insole foot warmers around 9, and Toasti Toes toe warmers around 8. Real-world duration varies with airflow — a toe warmer sealed inside a boot behaves differently than a hand warmer in an open pocket. Check the package for each product's own rating.
Are HotHands warmers safe?
Used as directed, yes — this is gentle, steady warmth, not a heating appliance. Two cautions worth taking seriously: avoid holding one directly against bare skin for long stretches (keep a sock or glove layer between), and if you or the person you're buying for has reduced heat sensation — young children, diabetics, the elderly, anyone with neuropathy — talk to a doctor first and check skin regularly. Are HotHands reusable?
No — each warmer is single-use. Once the reaction runs out, it's done and goes in regular garbage.
