Who is FNDN?
FNDN is a heated-apparel brand whose specialty is skin-fit heated base layers — thin, stretchy pieces designed to put warmth directly against your body under the clothes you already own. From that foundation the line extends to heated hats and beanies, gloves and liners, socks and slipper socks, insoles, a USB-powered vest, and even a women's parka with heated gloves built into the sleeves. Most pieces run on FNDN's slim 3.7V batteries.
What's special about the Skin-Fit heated base layers?
Placement. Heat applied close to the skin under an insulating layer goes further than heat fighting through loose fabric, so a snug heated base layer top (around $120 to $150) or pant can do the work of much bulkier outerwear. You dress normally over it — your regular jacket becomes part of the system instead of being replaced by it. If you already own outer layers you like, base-layer heat is the least disruptive way into heated clothing.
What does FNDN make besides base layers?
The accessory list is long: heated cable-knit beanies and hats (around $90), full-leather heated work gloves (around $100), thin liner gloves, the G2 SnowPro ski gloves (around $160), heated socks in several weights, waterproof heated insoles with a remote (around $130), heated slipper socks for the house (around $90), a USB 5V vest (around $140), a reversible heated puffy sweatshirt, and the heated parka at around $380. It's a full head-to-toe system if you want it to be.
What batteries does FNDN gear use?
Most of the line runs on FNDN's slim 3.7V BEGO battery packs, and spares are notably cheap at around $20 each — worth grabbing at checkout so a mid-day battery swap is always an option. The 5V vest is the exception: it runs off USB power, and FNDN's own power bank (around $50) or a good power bank you already carry will drive it. How much does FNDN gear cost?
Accessories and socks sit around $90 to $130, gloves from around $100 to $160, base layers around $120 to $150, and the two big outerwear pieces — the reversible heated puffy and the women's parka with built-in gloves — at around $250 and $380. Spare batteries at around $20 are the cheapest item in the line. That puts FNDN in the middle of the heated-apparel market: above bargain imports, below the premium European ski brands.
